Happy New Year, new beginnings

Hello friends!

Happy New Year and I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays.  We stayed home for the first time for 6 years.  It was nice to enjoy all that San Diego has to offer for the holidays!  I love the local traditions around here for the kids.

As far as Wire Harmony goes, I got a bunch of custom orders from my show, which I had to set aside until after Christmas because I was so busy prepping for that.  Doug ordered a couple watches for his nieces for Christmas.  I managed to get them done the day BEFORE Christmas eve, so I wasn't last minute Sarah, as I sometimes tend to be.  They were fun to make and looked pretty cool.  My friend Arika also gave me her watch face, wanting a new band.  I chose to do a slightly bad ass looking chain maille design with silver and gun metal links.

After I could take a breather from Christmas, I slowly chipped away at my other orders.  I made a new leather wrap bracelet for KC and slightly re-designed my wave necklace for her friend.

Karla wanted snake-like spiral earrings and pendant, which I loved and want to make for myself.

Cathy ordered from my "Red Book" of previously made pieces.  She liked the jasper long necklace.  Missy wanted a "bubble ring", with green beads.  I reminds me of wine grapes.  A good ring to drink wine with!

Natascha wanted a wrapped "Dream" stone and Ingrid wanted a purplish/greenish wrapped stone.  Two striking pieces for two cool ladies.

In December, I outsourced my first display!  My hair dresser of about 10 years, Trish, at "Hairs to You" in Vista, let me put a little display in her area.  BTW, she is an amazing hair dresser and I have followed her around forever.  She is also very reasonable, much less than the super fancy hair salons.  If you are looking for someone, I would definately recommend her.

I also loaned my Red Book of pieces to Jane who runs the book store at the Unity Center.  Generally, they only sell fair trade jewelry, but she was possibly going to have a display for member artists.  I hope something comes from that connection.

For my son's pre-school teacher's Bday, I made her some one of kind earrings that are totally her style.  I am so pleased that she often wears them to school now.

A super lady I mentioned before, Carlyn, had me do some repair work on her jewelry.  Fixing broken connections, clasps and the like.  She also did not like the pink beads on her elephant necklace, so I  found some nice black ones she liked and switched it all up.  She loved that it was much more wearable now.

So, I can also do repair work for cheap or alterations to existing pieces you have.  Its really cool to bring life back to pieces that have been stagnant in the bottom of the drawer forever.

I am excited about what the new year will bring.  I have been working on some new techniques and always have a million projects buzzing around in my head.  I still am planning on getting my license...that is next on the list.  Kim Neihans tipped me off on a really cool art fair called "Hostel Takeover" which takes place at a hostel in downtown.  They even have music and food.  Unfortunately, the show in Jan. is full for jewelry vendors, so I hope to make it into the next one.  If anyone has ideas or leads on fairs or shows, let me know!

Take care everyone, and hit me up if you have something you want.  I hope this new year brings you much joy and success.

Namaste,
Sarah
